Our Search Gibbs Estelle Reese Freddie (the Boxer)

When we lived in Tasmania, one of our closest friends was a Boxer Breeder named Teena Sloan.  We used to help her out with her dogs, occasionally being allowed to handle for her if she got a few through in the Challenge line-up (which was quite often).  When Teena needed help in homing a dog of her breeding that she had rescued, we took him in.  This was late 1990.

This was KILLILAN UP MEMORYLANE - "Agro".  His sire was AM CH SALGRAY'S ARGO OF MEMORY LANE (Imp USA) and his dam was AUST CH PHOENIX BARBARILLO who was out of 2 American imports. He was a strong RED boy and he was all boy.  He used to travel to the shows with our MALE Dobermann, both of them curled up together in the back of the station wagon.

Unfortunately, our circumstances changed and we had to surrender "Agro" back to Teena (but not after Greg had nursed him back to health - he weighed 30lbs at 2 years of age when he arrived at our house. he left weighing 30kgs -  taken him to a few shows and done a little bit of winning with him) - a very sad day in our household.  "Agro" had started a love affair with this breed that would continue to tug at our heart strings.

In April 2000, we travelled to Melbourne to the Boxer National to see what was available as a show prospect.  We were, of course, looking for another "Agro", a strong, flashy RED male with strong American lines behind him.  Our search turned out to be fruitless and we decided to concentrate on the Dobermanns but there still seemed to be this nagging desire for a Boxer in our lives.

Fast forward to April 2004 and thanks to a couple of chance email conversations and a phone conversation with Liz Scott of Belmanta Boxers in Victoria our search for our much wanted Boxer has ended.   See Sarge here.

In November 2004, "Asha" rejoined our household.   Thanks to the generosity of Rod and Liz Scott for letting us have a gorgeous little red head to love.  And a Great Great Granddaughter of "Bobby" to boot!

In January 2005, Greg & I were honoured by becoming partners & co-breeders with Liz & Rod in Belmanta Boxers.

In 2006 Belmanta Boxers changed partners and is now comprised of Liz Cartledge, Denise Ball & Liza Cassidy.
