It is ESSENTIAL that any puppy of any breed has their initial shots. This is usually a course of 4 shots over a 4 - 6 week period with the 2 shots given each visit covering Parvovirus, Distemper and Hepatitis (Corona Virus is optional but I recommend it). In between, we recommend a Tetanus shot. NO PUPPY SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PLACES (i.e: Puppy Pre-School, Training, Dog Shows, Obedience Trials, Parks, etc) WHERE THERE ARE OR HAVE BEEN OTHER DOGS UNTIL FULLY VACCINATED. Below is the vaccinating protocol that I personally use on our Dobermanns. My puppies do not leave until 10 weeks of age as the vaccination takes about 10 days to "kick in". We also recommend vaccinating against Tetanus if puppy is to be living on acreage or around horses. Read about Leo's Battle With Tetanus.
There is also an Annual vaccination available for Heartworm Prevention but we do not recommend this injection for Dobermanns.
